How to get here

You can take a taxi from Aqaba or from Petra. From Aqaba it costs 20 JD to Wadi Rum and 25 JD back. From Petra the fee is 25 JD and 25-30 JD back. Local bus lines are also available – they are cheaper but not very frequent and less comfortable.

If you rent a car you take the Desert Highway (road 53) and turn at Rashidiya village (also called the Rum Intersection) about 30 km from Aqaba. After 20 km you will come to the Visitors Center on the boundaries of Wadi Rum protected area. You will have to leave your car on a parking lot and pay an entrance fee for the area (appx. 3 JD).

Upon arrival at the Visitor Center please call Mohammed Sabah Al-Zalabeh of Sunset Camp (see Contact) or ask one of the officers. Mohammed can either give you directions by phone or come to pick you up. If you are in Rum village already look for the cell phone tower that is located on the left (east) side of the village – Mohammed's house is nearby.

What to Bring

Although not expected, tipping is much appreciated. Also, Bedouin culture is far more conservative than the place you are coming from so revealing clothes such as shorts or tank tops can be considered disrespectful. If you are allergic to any foods or if you are a vegetarian, please let us know a day ahead of time.
